You won't find much of Poe's original short story, however this is a horror film that is better than its reputation provided you see the 98-minute unreleased version. Not so if you see the badly reedited 87-minute release. Good cast and production values. Shot in Seville and Toledo, Spain.

NOTE; A good quality print of the uncut 98-minute version that was never released to theaters or television is available on a MGM Midnight Movies DVD as half of a double feature with "Cry of the Banshee."
