National Archives description: "This film highlights five important worldwide historical events which occurred in June 1963 and had far - reaching significance.The first scenes (of the first city) focus on the vigil in Rome, Italy, during the final illness of Pope John XXIII and the election of Pope Paul VI.
The second city is the (then) unidentified location of the Soviet cosmonaut launch center.
The third city is a Vietnamese village destroyed by the Communists.
Tuscaloosa, Alabama is then profiled as the city reacted to the integration of the University of Alabama.
Finally, the fifth city is West Berlin during the visit of John F. Kennedy and his wife Jackie.
Produced by George Stevens, Jr., written by Bruce Herschensohn, and narrated by Charlton Heston, the film was nominated for best documentary at the Academy Awards."
