My name is Calvin Gacuya and I am currently a student in the University of Hawaii at Manoa, studying animation in the Academy of Creative Media. My hobbies and interests include video games and watching movies which eventually led to pursuing a career in animation. Initially, I wanted to get better at concept art but I realized that there are more to art than just drawing and painting.

My career interest is making 3D models, whether it’s an environmental prop or character models. I also have an interest in making 3D motion graphics. I dream of working at a game or animation studio as either an animator or 3D artist.

Director’s Statement

I didn’t want to go too deep into meaning with my animated short and wanted to focus more on a lighthearted story. I wanted to have fun making this film so I tried creating something that I am currently interested in which is the fantasy genre and stylized 3D art. Something like World of Warcraft, but in my own style.

Working on this animated short proved to be challenging, but it also gave me insight of my limitations as an artist/animator.
