La La Land (2016) is a film in miraculous balance between the inspiration of the classics and an indisputable modernity, a musical and visual union that oscillates between present and past. Director Damien Chazelle deconstructs the classic musical and turns it into a post-modern prototype, almost hybrid. The purpose of this video essay is therefore to illustrate how La La Land exhumed and dismantled the pillars of the genre, paying homage to them at the same time. A sparkling and sweet-bitterness rom-comedy, in front of which the audience indulges in a daydream.
