TRANSCRIPT:

When you're dealing with the Futures Markets, you'll often hear of the terms-
The Bulls and The Bears. In this video, Dr Vance Cast explains the difference
between the two, as well as its role within the market.
When you purchase a contract first, or you buy the contract first and you're going long, you're probably doing that because you think you're in a bull market. A bull market is a market that's going up. So if you ever hear the terms buy long, or bull, you know that you're dealing with a market or you're wanting the trend to go up, or you're dealing with an uptrend; something like that. Whenever you hear the term bear, that's kind of a negative market, or a negative trending down, so we're in a bear market, you're probably selling or going short. That's the difference between the bulls and the bears, and you can remember this pretty easily if you think about a bull charging at you, what does he do? He has those horns down and he lifts those horns up. So he puts the horns in the direction that the bull is going. A bear on the other hand, swats down at you with his hand. So the Bears swat down, and the Bulls charge up. It’s also said in the market, a lot of people notice that the market drops a lot quicker than it rises sometimes; so there's another fun saying that we have in the market and that is- “The Bulls climb stairs while the Bears fall out of the window”. I don't know if that's all the time true or not, but a lot of times people notice, or like to notice that the market tends to drop much more rapidly than it is to stair step it's way on up to higher and higher prices.
