SIRENS

Inspired by The Sirens of mythology, this new project sails into the Siren's nest.
The modern Siren has become a creepy version of the mermaid, whereas the first Sirens had birdlike features: feathers and wings, clawed feet and bird tails.
Not beautiful like the sea nymphs who played in the waters below them.
Their song would bewitch anyone who approached, and the ocean floor around their island would be littered with ships, wrecked as they tried to reach the Sirens.

IT’S IMPORTANT TO FLEX THOSE CREATIVE MUSCLES
As a composer, it’s essential to maintain creative energy.
Whatever my schedule, I always try to dedicate a little time for my own projects, trying to push the envelope and have some fun with new ideas.
Often, they give me an opportunity to explore sounds and styles that the mainstream has set aside (to be rediscovered later) and this can be very inspiring.
It’s a great way to keep things fresh and helps me stay connected and enthusiastic (also to preserve a semblance of sanity)
(I usually don't have a budget for these projects, so I tend to use footage/stills etc from 'Free for Use' sources. I like to think that this will in some small way help to promote and support other creative works)

Often these projects will translate into future commissions, so they have become a vital part of my creative approach.
