Dr. Rachel Larrain Montoni, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist based in New York City who is passionate about providing a safe and empowering space for women to build insight into their thoughts, feelings, and behavioral patterns and supporting them in achieving their goals and living fulfilling lives that are aligned with their values.

She uses warmth, humor, and a non-judgmental approach to develop a strong alliance with clients that is founded in acceptance and authenticity. She meets clients where they’re at and tailors therapy to meet their unique needs.

Dr. Larrain Montoni specializes in relationship and communication issues, trauma, emotion regulation, body image challenges and fraught relationships with food, stress management and coping, and phase of life transitions. She also enjoys working with clients around building self-worth and self-compassion, establishing and maintaining boundaries, and identity and values exploration. She has extensive experience supporting teens and young adults with enhancing executive functioning skills.

Dr. Larrain Montoni has advanced training in evidence-based therapy modalities including Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She is also a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor who utilizes a Health at Every Size® (HAES®) approach and is passionate about helping those struggling with their body image and eating habits to build a healthy relationship with food and recover from the impacts of diet culture. Dr. Larrain Montoni integrates these interventions with an attachment-based framework that, when appropriate, creates space to explore, process, and integrate the influence of childhood and past experiences on clients’ current functioning to facilitate healing and growth..
