Teach your dog the basics of push ups/positional changes.
Start with luring and rewarding every instance of position change.
Start slow, don't rush through it. Keep the treat right on your dogs nose and take your time.
Move to luring, but only rewarding intermittently. Be sure to reward some sits and some downs, not just one position.
Add in the stand for a wider vocabulary.
Start to fade the lure by replacing with hand singles, while still holding the reward.
Move to reward only when the dog is moving smoothly and fluently.
Then beginning to change your positioning, move to a more natural position, and have your hand signal further and further from the dog.
Finally work speed.
Remember all dogs learn at different rates, just like us humans. Be clear in what you want, don't talk too much, and don't worry if it takes a couple days, or a couple weeks, if you've got the time, have fun with it!!
