The Asylum is Kneehigh’s own bespoke venue, providing an exciting space to perform our own shows and to host our friends and collaborators. It is a pop-up palace for fun, hope and escape. It is a sanctuary where we can come together to tell stories, to dance, to eat, to drink and celebrate.

Yes, it’s a tent. But it’s the best tent in the world. And all are welcome.

This summer, the Asylum will be in an exciting new location.

We’re on the beach! But not just any beach...

Carylon Beach (or Crinnis as it was once known) is a huge stretch of sand in the middle of St Austell Bay. The Asylum will go up on the very footprint of that legendary music venue, the Cornwall Coliseum! Back by popular demand is last year’s promenade jukebox musical, Kneehigh’s UBU!, as well as our delightful family show, The Dancing Frog. What a perfect setting to sing out those songs and dance those cares away!

PLUS... the fun doesn’t stop after Ubu. In September, look out for Kneehigh Presents...: a wild medley of stunning shows from our friends and collaborators, as well as surprise acts, live comedy, pop-up events and specially created youth theatre show led by Kneehigh artists.
