As allegations of sexual misconduct against high-profile men in entertainment and other industries caused a public uproar, the Hollywood elite voiced its support for victims of abuse at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards ceremony on Jan. 7. Responding to a call from Time’s Up, an initiative aimed at addressing gender inequality and launched by a group of women in the entertainment industry, guests wore black dresses and pins to denounce the pervasiveness of sexual harassment in Hollywood. On stage, women dominated as well. “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” and “Lady Bird,” two films centered around female characters, won best drama and best comedy, respectively. In addition, Oprah Winfrey received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement.
