This six-minute video has five elements.
1. The venue is a faux gallery that from
a previous "show" with 7 old paintings
2. There are 55 abstract paintings:
14 Extra Large
21 Large
13 Medium
7 Small
3. There are 14 adaptations of Picasso's
petits pichets de hibou (little owl pitchers).
Picasso was a prolific painter. In addition,
he created more than 3,500 playful, myth,
animal form, anthropomorphic, and
classical ceramic pieces.
His owl motif was inspired. It was an
ancient symbol of the neighboring town
of Antibes. Even more, his connection
with the figure of the owl was deepened
when Picasso found an owl with an
injured claw in Antibes.
Picasso’s partner Françoise Gilot
wrote of his experience in My Life With
Picasso: "One of his claws had been
injured. We bandaged it and it gradually
healed. We bought a cage for him and
when we returned to Paris... We put him
in the kitchen with the canaries, the
pigeons and the turtledoves." Picasso
used the owl’s historic connection with
wisdom, imagination and mortality.
It was fun to repaint Picasso's hibous
with saturated colors and then resize
them for display in this faux gallery.
4. The music track, A Melancholy
Spring Part II, for this video is by
Stephen Williamson. Stephen won
two piano competitions and played
trumpet in his school orchestra. He
then studied at Amersham/Wycombe
college Performing Arts and won a
place at Coventry Performing Arts.
In 1998 he graduated and gained a
place at The London College of Music
and Media. Wow! His web site is at

5. Lastly, the gestalt of this video, the
perception and impression of the make
believe gallery, hopefully, will be greater
than the sum of the first four elements.
The gestalt is meant to be peaceful and
calm.
Though my paintings may have
restricted palettes or Picasso's pottery
may have been repainted with saturated
colors I hope the visitor's stroll through
the gallery will be tranquil and serene.
