ESPN Sport Intros
A fun project working with for an old friends company years ago. Lot of creative freedom and reasonable deadlines. Was a fun change of pace to complete an animation in a couple of days compared to the far longer VFX deadlines.
I still enjoy the energy in the footbal blocking even though it was eventually toned down. Was going for animation style that might play well with the low poly characters. I used the same 'box blocking' method shown here: 3dfiggins.com/writeups/fastAction/, where the character is just cubes and no rig, allowing for really fast playback and less mental connection to the animation (to help when multiple iterations are happening).
Outside of these animations, I did a few more intro screens (american football catch, baseball pitch, football goalie) along with all the character rigs. This was also the first time using ncloth in production, which would become the basis of my AnimNCloth toolset years later twitter.com/KielFiggins/status/1187877625483747329
