It rained in Chicago which delayed the start but several die hard dancers still danced. We filled the delay with an amazing Caprese cake to celebrate Tonya Johnson's birthday. Dwayne Johnson skillfully taught and called perfect dances for the mixed levels of dancers. Rachel Gribben led two bands, contra and Irish. The contra band played indoors because of the light rain. Which was a challenge that Paul Watkins, our sound guy fixed perfectly. Dwayne had to signal the band through the window. Rachel's Irish band then played amazing jigs outside and acoustic. It was one of the most fun dances I have ever been to. It was a great example of everyone working together and staying positive. I can't wait to do it again. The rain lowered the 87 degree temperature to a much better dancing atmosphere and eliminated the mosquitos. It also really helped the dirt dance floor.
