My how times flies when you are having fun! One year ago, Tammy and I moved to Columbia City to embark on the Kingdom Adventure of Being One and Making One through the ministry vision of Columbia City UMC!

A major building remodel and the COVID-19 outbreak has given us all challenges, however, creative opportunities to continue fulfilling God's Kingdom mission assignment to Be One and Make One remain. COVID-19 has impacted the way we do ministry, yet it has opened new and creative avenues to move forward. Here are a few of these initiatives:
• Daily Youth-focused Instagram posts
• Daily Devotionals by members of the staff
• Tuesday & Thursday 2 Minute Testimonies on Facebook
• Wednesday Eve Zoom Prayer Meeting
• Virtual Sunday School and Bible Studies
• Drive-In Worship
• Live Stream Worship
• County-Wide VBS (see Facebook page for details)
• City Care Call Team

The Church Council and staff have been listening, studying, and most importantly praying for our next right step: resuming in-building worship. It is our prayerful plan, at this time, to continue Drive-in worship at 9:00am and resume in-building worship July 12th at 10:30am. This in-building worship experience won't be what it was like prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be a NEW, yet somewhat familiar way to engage in worship and reflection, encouraging our growth as disciples of Jesus, while allowing us to physically gather.

We are doing our due diligence to provide a safe and secure environment for in-building services. The Church Council and CCUMC Staff have put the following guidelines in place while keeping with Governor Holcomb's Back on Track Indiana guidelines:
• We will be offering a limited touch experience (doors will be open for you, no bulletins will be passed out, and there will be an offering drop off as you leave) within the building.
• Restrooms will be available outside the cafe.
• In-house Sunday School and Small Group gatherings are suspended until the Columbia City school's resume for the 2020/2021 school year (at the time we will re-evaluate our situation).
• Food or beverages will not be offered at this time. You are welcome to bring your own drinks. Water fountains will also be closed off.
• The upper level of the church will be closed.
• City Kids & Toddler Kids Room will not be available at this time. Please, be sure to check out CCUMC Children & Family Ministries Facebook page for upcoming events and lessons.
• Monitor yourself for symptoms. As per CDC guidelines, if symptoms exist or someone in your household has been exposed to COVID-19, please stay home and join us online.
• While you are on the church campus, please practice social distancing of 6 feet with other attendees, volunteers, and staff (not in your household).
• Please considering joining online worship, if you are in the high-risk category.

When we gather back inside the building for worship, please follow these guidelines as well:
• As you arrive, parking attendants will direct you to a parking spot. At that time, please wait in your car until an usher directs you to enter the building. Marked sidewalks will direct you into the building.
• Entering the building for in-house worship will exclusively take place on the lower level doors (East Door # ).
• As you enter, a welcome station will be placed inside the doors. Temperatures will be taken using a touchless thermometer. Anyone with a temperature at 100 degrees or above will be directed back to their vehicle, as well as anyone in their party.
• Masks must be worn (if you do not have one, we will supply one).
• Sanitize often (there will be many stations available).
• After registering, an usher will escort you to your seating area in the worship center.
• At the conclusion of worship, please stay seated and the ushers will release you.

Please view our video "What to Expect During In-House Worship" that you will find on Facebook or our website next week (July 6th). If you have any questions, please contact the church office. We know you have been praying for the church leadership during this time, we feel it! Thank you and keep the prayer power turned up.

Yours in Ministry Together,

Rob Neel, Staff, and Church Council
