BRIEF

Ciccio’s was recently awarded the prize for Glen Eira’s best pizza, and engaged Undefeater to create a brand video to show the community just what makes them so special. Ciccio’s also wanted to present owner George as the face of the restaurant and set a precedent to let his passion and personality shine in content going forward. Ciccio’s stands for family and community, and is unique in the area for being a dine-in pizza restaurant as opposed to a take-away shop. It was important to showcase this fact and present Ciccio’s in full flight.

EXECUTION

George’s interview provided the narrative that underpinned the video, and a roadmap for B-roll required. Being a dine-in restaurant with an open layout that invites patrons to view the pizza making process, there was plenty to shoot in terms of action and environment. With many pizza restaurants in the area being take-away only, it was also important to showcase the dining room on a busy evening – full of families enjoying their time together over a meal.

The woodfire oven provided a chance to have some fun with the GoPro as we tried our best to cook it. The GoPro survived and we got the shot – a POV shot going into the oven that made for a unique moment in the video.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Ideally, shooting and editing the interview and narrative first helps define the shot list for B-roll, however we were only able to shoot this in one session. Despite this, we were able to capture a wide range of footage that ticked all the boxes and gave us more than enough to work with and help punctuate George’s narrative. We are proud of what we were able to deliver to Ciccio’s – on time and budget.
