Joaquín Aras (Argentina) is artist in residence at Gasworks from 6 January - 23 March 2020.
Joaquín Aras’ work is based on the study of cinematic conventions such as genre, narrative structure and character archetypes as well as the visual effects, techniques and devices involved in the practical construction of the moving image. Working with video, installation, texts, performance, drawing and photography, he engages in well-known practices of storytelling to interrogate the effects of fiction on reality.
Joaquín Aras’ residency is supported by Erica Roberts and hosted in the Roberts Residency Studio. The residency is developed in partnership with Proyecto URRA, in alliance with ArteBA Fundacion, Argentina.
