The film depicts a typical scene millions of Russian urban dwellers see every day. Windows of neighbouring high-rise blocks. The enforced neighbourship compels us to the unwilling exposure to the stranger’s gaze. Thus, the work explores the nature of voyeuristic desires each human has. During the daytime the information in transparent windows is concealed by the outside light, curtains and reflections. But at night one gets an opportunity to see what is going on inside those windows. However, there’s always an obstacle to it, and here it is the noise, a side-effect of the camera’s night vision power. It pushes itself to the forefront of the image plane and blends with the subject matter. The high frame rate strengthens this inability of the spectator to clearly see the desired object, almost completely thwarting the voyeuristic act.
