“We were humanity” is a Live A / V set that tells a Sci-Fi story where Artificial Intelligences merged with plants and try to remember their ancestors: the extinct humanity. Combining the imaginary of cyber-space, primitive digital aesthetics, manipulated samples of ancestral rituals and contemporary popular culture, I seek to reflect on the artificial minds that are being born right now.

Technically, the set is based on a flexible composition tool that I developed especially in collaboration with my brother Joan Sol Roo. The tool combines the DAW Ableton Live in the sound part and the Unity 3d video game engine in the visual part. Each sound event triggers messages that control each element of the models, animations, cameras, simulations or effects that are articulated in real time within a three-dimensional environment, generating constructions that are different in each presentation.

The result is an intimate relationship between sound and video creating scenes of immersive digital psychedelia, hypnotic landscapes or abstract organic forms with which I seek to build an deconstructed narrative, inviting the observer to dive into a sensory journey.

“Éramos la humanidad” es un Live A/V que narra una historia de sci-fi donde las Inteligencias Artificiales se fundieron con las plantas e intentan recordar a sus ancestros: la extinta humanidad. Combinando el imaginario del cyber espacio, la estética digital primitiva, samples manipulados de rituales ancestrales y de cultura popular contemporánea, busco reflexionar sobre las mentes artificiales que están naciendo en este mismo momento y sobre nuestra propia mente.

Técnicamente , el set se basa en una flexible herramienta de composición que desarrolle especialmente en colaboración con mi hermano Joan Sol Roo. La herramienta combina la DAW Ableton Live en la parte sonora y el motor de videojuegos Unity 3d en la parte visual. Cada evento sonoro dispara mensajes que controlan cada elemento de los modelos, animaciones, cámaras, simulaciones o efectos que se articulan en tiempo real dentro de un entorno tridimensional, generando construcciones que son diferentes en cada presentación.

El resultado es una íntima relación entre el sonido y el video creando escenas de psicodelia digital inmersiva, paisajes hipnóticos o formas orgánicas abstractas con las que busco construir una narrativa desarmada, invitando al observador a sumergirse en un viaje sensorial.
