In search of nothing, a solitary young traveler is crisscrossing a landscape that feels like the end of the world. When a rainbow-coloured kite pops up on the horizon, his journey takes a different turn - one that he didn't expect.

"Wanderdrachen" is set during a time of change, a transitional phase in which ideas are born and decisions to be made. A time when a young man calls a van, country roads and wilderness his home. His journey has made him a lost vagabond. He still represses the idea that it must inevitably come to an end. The closer he comes to reaching his thought-up freedom, the more dangerously the return to the real world lurks behind the next corner. The realisation that our romantic notion of freedom does not exist is the leitmotiv of this film. The traveler does not realise this all at once, despite the onset of a harsh winter and a landscape that is reminiscent of the end of the world. It is his imagination that still protects him from it.
