This is the initial pitch I created for my capstone project--an analysis of the relationship between violence and intimacy in media. Here I compare the ways that two of cinema's greatest villains, the Joker from The Dark Knight and Hannibal Lecter from The Silence of the Lambs, use violence to "know" their victims and leverage their knowledge of their victims as an act of violence.
