The Tigers Of Scotland focuses on one of Britain’s lesser known yet incredibly charismatic creatures - the Scottish Wildcat. These animals are affectionately known as “Highland Tigers” as they have distinctly striped fur and are the only remaining native feline in Britain. Once found throughout mainland Britain, they are now only seen in the upper Scottish Highlands. Rarer than tigers, rhinos and Mountain Gorillas, these animals are not only Britain’s rarest mammal, but at approximately 95 individuals they are also one of the rarest mammals worldwide.

With so few animals left, the threats against them are causing major issues - and unfortunately humans are the primary cause of those threats. Conservationists are using multiple tools to try and reverse the decline of this species, before it’s too late. However, it’s possible that this species could slip into extinction within the next few years.

This film looks into Scottish Wildcats as a species; how they differ from domestic cats, what the threats are to them, the myths and folklore they have inspired over countless centuries, how conservationists are trying to save them, what the future holds, and - most importantly - how the public can help.

With the aid of multiple experts, we introduce the Scottish Wildcat to an international audience in an effort to raise awareness of the plight this incredible creature faces. The narration guides the film with an authentic Scottish accent, expertly delivered by Iain Glen (Game of Thrones).
