The interstate system is often championed as the artery of the U.S. economy. In popular culture and artistic depictions, freeways are always framed as sublime and grandiose. That's no exception of how Google Earth's 3D satellite imagery captured freeways in America — the scanning algorithm erased most cars, reframing highways into idyllic parklands of asphalt. However, the reality is far from that: freeways are a reminder of the dominant car culture in the US, and the inequality it brings. In this satirical short film, eerie flyover shots of freeways are edited to John Philip Sousa's famous score the Liberty Bell, an improper celebration of car-centric infrastructure.
