In 2017, AT&T and Fullscreen Media launched the first-of-its-kind short-film Mentorship initiative: a program specifically designed to spotlight underrepresented voices in the entertainment industry. Helmed by lead mentor and Emmy® Award-Winning Actress, Writer, Producer, and all-around dope human being, Lena Waithe, Writers are paired up with Directors and are guided through the process of bringing their short films to fruition. The mentees attended workshops with industry experts, learned how to pitch and market their projects, and of course, produced their signature short film with their Mentor alongside. The program is an amazing platform to bring the voices and stories of women, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community to mainstream media.
