"Sunset Divers"|Summertime is here, but things still aren't quite back to normal in 2021. George Hoyningen-Huene's "The Divers" is a famous photo from Vogue that's emblematic of summer, but also isn’t quite real (the diving board wasn’t really a diving board, the background wasn’t really water, it was taken on the roof of a building…)

The photo has been popping up more and more in the background of our lives for some reason, so we felt it appropriate to do a take on it for the summer of "almost, but not quite real".

Our sunset background (filmed in Optical Radiance - and taken from our film #NotAllGhosts) casts shadows, leaving us like groundhogs, waiting for better times ahead.

To translate the original black and white image into color we chose our wardrobe to reflect the backdrop, where our characters minds were.
•
For the record, our “diving board” also isn’t a diving board.
•
Optical Radiance is analog color for digital cinema. Using patent-pending tools we can retrofit any camera to “see” in the spectrum of three-strip #Technicolor (circa 1935-1955).
