In this film, intern researcher John Robert Bradshaw interviews research mentor Dr. Juhao Wu from SLAC on the project Biomarkers for Early Stage Alzhimers. This project uses machine learning as a method to categorize PET scans into stages of Alzhimers. The project goal is to use biomarkers to identify Alzhimers patients in their early stages in hopes to create personalized methods to try to treat them. Biomarkers are potential ways to identify the risk and severity of a patient's Alzheimer's status. In the interview, they discuss the methods used in the research and why it is important.
