In the summer of 2020, ConteXture dance Detroit searched for creative ways to continue to dance and perform as a company. This three part project entitled “Solace,” consisted of the main site specific performance, production of a documentary about the process, and a screen dance. This dance on film portion of the project focuses primarily on transcribing the performers' emotional and sensorial experiences that took place during this somatic healing project leading up to the outdoor performance. This short film begs the audience to ask themselves, that by moving away from our COVID-19 imposed isolation, and returning to nature, can we attempt to find ‘solace’ in our healing process?
