SJ Main Muñoz is a multiple award-winning Latinx filmmaker. Her work is supported by programs including NBC Female Forward (NBC's Chicago Med Ep 518), Ryan Murphy’s Half Initiative, WeForShe’s DirectHer, FIND’s Project:Involve, NALIP’s Filmmaker labs and more. She is the recipient of over 50 filmmaking awards, including the James Bridges Fellowship Award for Excellence in Acting from UCLA. Her films have screened in over 200 film festivals worldwide. She is a graduate of the MFA Program in Film Directing from Columbia University of New York and holds a PhD from the European Graduate School of Switzerland, where she studied under Claire Denis, Margarethe Von Trotta and Atom Egoyan. SJ is a recent invitee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
