It was 1981 when Michele Mancini and Giuseppe Perrella, film critics and essayists, published this volume with over 1700 frames from the sets of Pasolini’s movies and previously unreleased texts.

The title of the book relates to the fact that images are grouped by topics and attitudes connected to bodies and places. The result is a work that goes beyond the boundaries and categories of art, showing how photography, that in motion becomes cinema, can follow the opposite process: extrapolated from the filmic representation and put on a page, it becomes photography again.
A process that reminds of Bruce Chatwin's cataloguing of human and animal expressions or Gerhard Richter's obsessive repetitions of themes in his Atlas.

The book becomes a pretext to talk about cinema, culture, politics, photography and subjects that are at the same time simple and complex, just as Pasolini's thought was. "Corpi e Luoghi" was recently reprinted in English (and Italian) by Swiss publisher Patrick Frey (‘Bodies and Places’) surely aware that this would have been the right moment to reaffirm without hesitation that the book pages are the perfect place for photography to reveal its true essence.
