LOST AND FOUND

Assembly Required: A woman breezes onto a sandy beach and discovers a series of whimsical wheels dotting the landscape—there is beauty in this seemingly arbitrary assortment, if one knows how to work with them.

One/Of is predicated on the notion of making do with found materials, sourcing remnant textiles from luxury houses and archival fabrics alike. Capsule II features a vast array of these fabrics that have been given new life: a rich floral jacquard becomes a crisp pair of trousers with a drawstring waist; leafy kelly green guipure lace has been molded into a flattering slip dress with matching faille accents along its peaked neckline. Each garment takes a minimalist approach to shape, allowing each fabric to take center stage.

Back on the beach, the sea air catches the hem of our heroine’s simple linen shirtdress, creating an elegant billowing effect. A thickly knit houndstooth sweater vest, skirt, and jacket dart past as she gathers the pieces she’s found on the beach. Inspiration can only take you so far—Capsule II celebrates the beauty of putting it all together and bringing something new to life.
