One day is a meditative love story about two people who are drawn to each other at a time in their lives when circumstances seem to forbid them to ever be together. It is not a story of a sweeping romance that passionately engulfs the couple, but rather a promise for happiness on the horizon of two lives that seem to have given up on it. The relationship gradually blooms between the two almost against their will, with it seeming to expand a little each time they see each other, though both are slow to warm up to the idea of a new love in their life. What marks the film, and the characters themselves, is absence. The elegant cinematography shows a world that is bright and beautiful, yet cold to the eyes, with open white space domination most of the frames in the film.

This film is set in Kuching Sarawak, Kota Kinabalu and Kundasang Sabah, Malaysia.
