One of the more enigmatic and unique figures in electronic music, Moodymann has developed a cult following for his DJing persona and great and rare records. Sponsored by New Era, this short documentary for Mixmag features a rare, candid interview with the Detroit legend. Conducted by Gilles Peterson and including interviews with Mike Banks and Amp Fiddler, this film traces Moodymann's musical history from DJing at his grandfather's bar at nine to working at Buy-Rite Music to starting his labels. This is a short cutdown from the longer 15 minute documentary, available on Mixmag.
