Synopsis:

Au printemps 2018, le mont Royal accueille, pour la première fois en un demi-siècle, une nouvelle œuvre d’art permanente dans son paysage. Réalisée par trois artistes de différents horizons culturels, l’œuvre sculpturale L’'Étreinte des temps donne voix à l’héritage de la montagne : elle évoque l’histoire du site et s’inspire de savoirs ancestraux. Ce film retrace les étapes de réalisation du projet artistique et présente le mystérieux et captivant processus de transformation d’une matière organique en une sculpture de bronze. S’inspirant de la forme et des propriétés botaniques du saule, source d’un ancien remède contre la douleur, L’Étreinte des temps invite le temps présent à enlacer tous les « hier » et les « demain » afin de les soigner et de les conserver.

In spring 2018, a new permanent artwork was installed on Mount Royal for the first time in half a century. Created by three artists of different cultural backgrounds, the sculpture L'Étreinte des temps gives voice to the heritage of the mountain: it evokes the site’s history and draws on ancestral knowledge. The film takes viewers through the steps in producing the art project and unveils the mysterious and captivating process of transforming an organic material into a bronze sculpture. Inspired by the form and botanical properties of the willow, from which an ancient pain remedy was made, L’Étreinte des temps intertwines the present with all the yesterdays and tomorrows to care for and preserve them.
