Mite or Czech hedgehog is a domestic invention serving as part of the border fortifications. Its functionalist design has two variants of use, the metal variant is still used as a barrier and the reinforced concrete version is used as an artificial breakwater to protect the coast. Czech hedgehog, from the geometrical principle, a Platon´s body of tetrahedron and is perceived by the author as a symbol of passive resistance. It is virtually unchangeable to the turbulent states, because if one or the other side of the alleged conflict does not threaten it, and if the receiver is overturned, it looks and works the same.
The three drills represent a memento of stability and genuine character in contrast to today's rapidly changing times. The intensity of the light coming from the objects reminds us of two fateful years of Czechoslovak history, namely the year of declaring an imminent threat to Nazi Germany and the year of the invasion of Warsaw Pact troops into our territory. The first luminosity is set to 38%, the next to 68% and the last hedgehog with its emptiness opens a discussion about the future.
A sensor in one of the hedgehogs triggers one of the sounds when moving around.

The choreography of Jiří Bartovanec by Sasha Waltz Company was inspired by the Czech Hedgehog theme at the Chemnitz Theater Festival in Germany.
