The piece I wrote accompanies the short film I made called 'life goes on.' The film is about the compartmentalization of my memories through digital storage and the way I organize parts of my life into files and folders as a means of finding catharsis. The song is inspired by the shoegaze genre. I wanted to say more with the effects and pedals applied to the guitar than from the melody. For me, there is just as much being said in the noise between notes as the notes themselves. The gain on my amp was set to max to really push the levels to distortion. This allowed the the long, drawn out notes to extend and evolve as they played out. If each vignette -- diary entry or photo -- serves as a note in the song, then who I am today is in the noise that is reverberating after.
