The first decades of the Twentieth Century in Buenos Aires were culturally very diverse. One of its characters was Jevel Katz, born Lituanian and baptised by those who saw him singing and acting as “The Jewish Gardel”. This documentary recovers the pieces of this character, but above all, discovers and brings to the present a handful of dearly loved characters, all of them around their nineties or a hundred years. This characters talk about a bond with the “new world” and with language, and Vagnenkos’ merit is not only to have discover them and made them “actors”, but also the tenderness with which he films them. A Jewish musician, for those who don’t know the songs to come out of the cinema singing “Ovinu Malkeinu”, “Mucho ojo” or “Tucuman”. Finally, the powerful Yiddish culture already has his own film.
