Film Description
The idea behind this short film was to tell a 2 to 4-minute story using only still images. I drew inspiration from my current environment and daily life during the pandemic and created a story that follows myself and a fellow UCSD student going through our daily cycles over Zoom, until we stop for a moment, find each other, and share a beautiful day outside. It mirrors my sentiments over the past year. I don’t mind having days spent inside on the computer, and I don’t mind that they can be redundant. But after a while, the color fades away a bit and it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have never valued a breath of fresh air more than I have this past year. I’ll find an afternoon, a weekend, a sunset, etc., and just take in the beauty of the day. It’s done wonders in a climate where I can’t see people or go anywhere. It’s been my hardest year ever, and it’s been just as hard to stay positive. I wanted to challenge myself to make a hopeful film, as I pride myself on always seeing the bright side. It’s so much of who I am. It’s vulnerable, it’s hopeful, and it’s refreshing. It's a modern take on stopping to smell the roses, and I hope you enjoy.
