“An inverted world” is reflecting about the theories of Guy Debord in the nowadays world of interconnection and AI technologies. It is programed in Processing and uses Computer Vision libraries to detect espectators faces and framing them into television sets. Viewers become instantantaneusly media products. Depending on viewers movement and position, two other video fragments are showed on the tv screen: A fragment of Guy Debord’s “Society du spectacle” with the statement “In a world which really is topsy-turvy, the true is a moment of the false”. The other one is a propapagand film in which a 11 years old Franco’s daughter Carmen promotes her father's message, while the dictator mouths her words in the background.
"The spectacle is not a collection of images; rather, it is a social relationship between people that is mediated by images" , Debord stated.
In the nowadays world, where spectators have make themselves a commodity and present their life as a spectacle in the network, the inversion is completed.
This work propose a digital détournement, reflecting on identity, reality and spectacularity.
