From January to May 2021, the Learning and Participation team at Shobana Jeyasingh Dance have been collaborating with Streetwise Opera to create a bold, experimental new work: In This Place. 

Streetwise Opera uses creativity to inspire and empower people recovering from homelessness, and their participants joined us from across the UK, alongside Trinity Laban students, to co-create this movement and opera film. 

This piece explores the themes of identity, journeying, narrative voice (who gets to tell our stories) and reflects specifically the time and space it was created within. The digital landscape became our creative meeting point, the zoom room our rehearsal studio and the desktop our stage.
