IDENTITY THROUGH ART is a short documentary by Brianna Guillen. It premiered on Saturday April 24th, 2021 as an added event of Pregones/PRTT's 21 Islands International Short Film Festival.

Filmed mostly at Pregones Theater in The Bronx, it explores the cultural and artistic nuances Brianna navigates in order to affirm and celebrate her cultural heritage as a young Afro-Latina (Puerto Rican & Dominican) artist. The film also features candid interviews with opera and theater director Crystal Manich and musician Rambo Salinas, both alumni from the National Association of Latino Arts and Culture’s 2020 Leadership Institute.

Created with support from Exploring The Arts Internship Program and Pregones/PRTT’s TRASFONDOS/BACKSTORIES - an arts- and humanities-based initiative that gives students, educators, and other community members access to our ensemble’s creative process, and a chance to generate and/or co-author content for study guides, interpretive materials, web/social media, and other forms of diverse audience engagement.
