/ / i’d been sick for six months by the time i found the black mould under my bedside table. the prolonged exposure gave me something called invasive candidiasis, a fungal infection of the blood that knocked 25 pounds off me and kept me bedridden for 9 months. i was scared and ashamed and i didn’t tell anyone about it for a long time. it lasted from summer 2018 to spring 2019 and it changed my life in a lot of ways.

/ / i am like the moon in that i went through phases. candidiasis is a cyclical condition. it would manifest itself as an intense fever for two weeks before dropping me into total exhaustion for two more. then the fever would return and it would start all over again.

/ / i don’t remember when i started filming. slowly, i began using my phone to capture little moments. this short film is a collection of some of those little moments and was made in an attempt to capture the inescapable nature of the cycle i was caught in. it is the first film i ever put together. it premiered at the 2019 squat betty avant-garde film night in london, england.

/ / i saw six different doctors before dr. john gannage set me on the road to my recovery. the film is dedicated to him.
