3:41 am, awaken from dark dreams to crackling flashes of lightning and house-shuddering thunder—with rain pelting the windows. Grab the iPhone, and film everything I can, before the storm blows through. How much of what I saw was real? How much was blended into my dreams? How much is just digital noise? Didn’t I hear something once, some advice, about not standing near a window in lightning storms? If I’d heard that, I’d forgotten all about it in the middle of the night—half-awake & half asleep. But it’s probably good advice to stand clear of the window, so I mounted the camera on a tripod for round two of the thunderstorms.

And sure enough, just as predicted, that evening, around supper-time, another turbulent storm tore into the region, blackening skies with roiling clouds, supercharged with static electricity and rainwater. The storm peaked quickly, pelting hard and fast; but a short while later, when the skies began to clear and the thunder fade away, vivid sunset colors splashed the scudding clouds overhead.

Yes, it’s summer, and a stormy one at that! Hope you enjoy the film!
