Here is a compilation of some Anim Dev work I did in 2008 and 2009 for the movie "How To Train Your Dragon" (2010).

I was the character lead on the dragon Deadly Nadder, and developed the Body Flap system (cycles of various strengths for chest+neck/head) in partnership with Simon Otto (HOCA of How To Train Your Dragon) who did the wing cycles.

00:02-00:08 : First flight test of a Dragon. I hand animated the wings (no cycles built yet). Inspired by an Eagle taking off reference.
00:08-00:12 : Cartoony run cycle of Deadly Nadder
00:13-00:30 : Dragon/Human test, serving as Marketing vignette. I animated the Deadly Nadder - Shaggy Hornby animated Astrid.
00:30-01:25 : Demonstration of BodyFlap system + WingFlap system working together. I did several strength of the BodyFlap cycles (chest+neck+head) for all the dragons, while Simon Otto did all the Wing cycles.
01:26-01:35 : First performance test of Deadly Nadder
01:36-02:10 : Production shots from the previous version of the movie (before Director and Story reboot). In that version of the movie, Toothless was a tiny dragon, and Hiccup was younger.

Please note that during shot 01:57-02:00, I animated Toothless+shield, but Hiccup was animated by Dave Pate.
