Haven follows Lasia Casil and her journey in returning to Guam in order to bring positive change to her home — around twenty-five years after leaving to escape the workplace discrimination she faced as a transgender woman. Lasia was Guam’s first openly transgender senatorial candidate and founded Guam Pride, an LGBTQ+ rights activist organization. Through a collection of personal interviews, archival footage, and direct cinema scenes of her sharing her hopes for the island, Haven tells the simple story of a woman willing to overcome her personal traumas in order to see her island prosper.
