GET OUT meets STRANGER THINGS in this new type of psychological horror I call, Postapartheid Horror. Serving as the backdrop to the supernatural but also to explore what it's like for kids of colour, living in a predominately white neighbourhood, being the only minorities in an all white Afrikaans school. After the end of segregation Grasmere became one of the first towns to provide housing discrimination reparations to non white Africans.
Two timelines coexist in our story. As adults with new lives, new problems; many of them will have moved out of Grasmere, spread out across the country for school and work. But the re-emergence of horror in Grasmere will bring them back to their hometown, where they will have no choice but to put their differences aside and work together. This will allow us to explore many of the same themes and characters from the original timeline, but with a new ensemble of characters and new horrors.
