"This work is an opportunity to try to break my habits, to break my comfort zone, to use music that I would normally never use, and stupidly bring wheels on stage. It has no deeper meaning, just a little ironic, a reminder not to take ourselves too seriously (winking). Choreographically it is far from perfect and the dancers will make mistakes, this failure makes the piece partly successful."

"ChoreoLab - Made in Ulm" 2020 presents "249 choreographic failures" in keeping with the Ulm #Berblinger2020 anniversary year.
The international call for applications for the ChoreoLab at ROXY received 45 different applications from 24 countries. The dancers and choreographers submitted a 60-second dance film that documented a "choreographic failure". A jury consisting of Karla Nieraad (director of the Stadthaus), Reiner Feistel (ballet director of the Theater Ulm), Tommi Brem (freelance artist and stage designer) and Michael Mutschler (ROXY Ulm) selected ten finalists and three winners from all submissions. The three selected choreographers Aina Lanas (Spain), Pablo Girolami (Italy) and Axel Loubette (France) worked together with the Ulm choreographer Pablo Sansalvador (Moving Rhizomes) in an intensive rehearsal phase in July and August at the ROXY and each created a 15-minute work for the "249 Choreographic Failures" dance evening.
Moving Rhizomes e.V. is a non-profit organisation. If you like the work you see, you can make a tax-deductible donation of 50 euros to become an annual member and receive benefits. Please send an e-mail to [email protected]. For further information, please contact us at movingrhizomes.com.
