This short film is part of an exploration into flag flying in the United States. 

The purpose of this visual project is to document just how much flag flying is a part of US culture and to interrogate and examine this cultural norm. I am interested in the outwardly expressive gesture of flying the flag and what this means to the very diverse groups of people that make up the United States of America.   

By experiencing the flag flying for 5 minutes in 5 different settings, you as the viewer are able to witness how integrated the flag is in society and how its significance might vary from group to group. This work is a meditation on symbolism, identity and nationalism created during a national identity crisis.
