With a mixed and fascinating history comprising of Irish and Norwegian settlers, The Faroe Islands is now a Danish owned island nation, situated halfway between Iceland and Norway.

The Faroe Islands are an extremely dramatic and unique country comprised of many spread out lumps of land comprising an archipelago. I was amazed that every trip you make on the island the entire journey you see out of your window is incredible. From mountain passes lost in the clouds to harsh cliffs unchanged for centuries, rolling to an inky blue unforgiving sea.

The name "Føroyar" has a vague and tilted past and has been thrown around for centuries. The "før", may reflect an Old Norse word fær, meaning (sheep) and when the island was passed on to the Norwegian settlers, who then added oyar (islands) the name became "Føroyar" the "Islands of Sheep"
