A test of a GoPro Hero 7 connected to an external recorder/monitor mounted on a hand-carry rig. The purpose was to see how usable footage could be under very low light hand held conditions while recording at 2.7K. These are probably NOT the optimum low light settings, but this was a test! There was significant noise in some images that had to be cleaned up in post, and the dynamic range fell further apart the lower the light got. While overall it probably works better than any GoPro before it in low light, it still can't beat a larger sensor camera. Compare the night footage in "embark" which was done with a Canon cinema camera at ISO 6400; it's much cleaner with better gradations in shadows. But for what it is, it did a pretty good job! The electronic stabilizer seems to work better with more light, and became jittery in the dark. Again, it works better than any previous GoPro; and all caveats aside is still a heck of a camera. Probably best to play to it's strengths, though, which would be as much light as you can shoot under!
