In the Amazon, an area of rainforest bigger than a football pitch is lost every minute. The homes and lives of indigenous communities living there is under threat. So, we’re asking schools to do football-themed fundraisers to help Defend the Defenders of the Amazon.

Indigenous communities have defended the Amazon for thousands of years, with a way of life that protects the forest. Now they are the last line of defence against those who seek to extract its resources.

CAFOD supports lawyers who defend the rights of indigenous communities to own land and a safe place to live. It is dangerous work. The lawyers often receive death threats.
