Vernon is a city five miles south of downtown Los Angeles. The population was 112 at the 2010 United States Census, the smallest of any incorporated city in the state. The city's website says it has 1,800 businesses employing 55,000 people and touts itself as "Exclusively Industrial." It has a history of political problems, and is now fighting disincorporation after city-government corruption was discovered.
Conceived as a video journal, and looking back six years ago, this short clip is compiled from 300 hours of my raw footage. No image or sound enhancement has been made, and the editing is rudimentary. Many of these clips will not end up in the final documentary, but offer additional insight into Mule's journey and a glimpse behind the scenes of the work-in-progress film.
